15 Weeks Pregnancy: Physical Changes and Hints for the Week

Week 15

This week, you feel more energetic than the recent past and another positive change is that you once again start enjoying your meals. There is an all-round 'feel-good' factor, thanks to the hormones which flow in your body.

Your physical changes this week

While sleeping, you might feel that your tummy gets in the way as your baby is developing. So, find a comfortable position for yourself while sleeping, especially for those who are used to sleeping on their tummy. It will be wise to invest in a long pillow which can be moulded around your body and legs.

Due to venous engorgement, nose bleeding, sniffles and nose congestion may happen. Stay calm! The nose bleeding will go by itself.

If your shoes are feeling tight it is caused by progesterone, which is an important pregnancy hormones, that relaxes the pelvic muscles. But its effect does not end there. Don't be surprised if your shoe size increases by a size at the end of pregnancy.

Your breast size has become bigger and it is heavy now. It is important to buy suitable maternity bras to support your breasts during pregnancy.

Your baby's changes this week

  • More active.
  • Baby's eyes which were on the sides of the face have started taking position where they should be.
  • The three small bones in baby's ears start forming.
  • Baby's legs become longer than his/her arms.

Your baby is now splashing around, moving his/her arms and legs. Isn't it wonderful that you will be able to feel all these movements just in a couple of weeks?

Though not big yet, the baby weighs lesser than 100 grams now. The baby's breathing, sucking and swallowing movements are now heard in the ultrasound. The baby does not look as curled now as the legs have grown. The baby's body is slowly taking a proportionate form.

Hints of the week

Water is a rich source of fluoride which aids in the baby's teeth formation. So, drink lots of water. To avoid urinary infection, drink a lot of water, use the toilet often to flush your body. After urinating, wipe from front to back. Before and after having intercourse empty your bladder.

Cranberry is a rich source of vitamin c and has protective qualities and helps you by absorbing iron from the food you eat. So, it is a good idea to include cranberry juice in your pregnancy daily diet.

Engage daily in something that you like which is not related to the baby or your work. It's important as you cannot keep your own life on hold because of your pregnancy.

Don’t feel bad in case you were only able to hold down dry crackers and pringles through your pregnancy because there are many other factors that affect and shape your child’s appetite for various foods and flavors as they grow up. Like peer pressure, advertising and even individual taste sensitivity.
