Baby shower do’s and don'ts.

Baby Shower Dos and Dont

Baby showers now are more than just a usual family/friends get-together. As a host, you are required to get to the bottom of it, sketch out a baby shower plan that essentially portrays an enchanting theme and has games, food and thank you gifts to go with it. It is very easy to get carried away while you plan for the event, however, it is important to keep the new mom’s needs and perspectives in mind and plan a baby shower that she’d actually be a fan of.

Here’s the baby shower do’s and don'ts list that can help you roll out a successful baby shower party.

Baby shower rules:

Invite daddy and his best pals

The daddy-to-be is equally important as he embarks his journey to fatherhood filled with joy and newer responsibilities. Hence, ensure to involve him and his best pals for the baby shower. Their presence can make the event undeniably a joyful get-together.

Open your presents during the baby shower

In general, baby clothing and gears look lovable and charming. We can never resist cooing over them. So double up happiness and choose to open all your cutesy gifts during the baby shower with your guests around.

Don’t make it a surprise for the mum-to-be

Communicate dates of the baby shower well in advance to the guest of honour. You really do not want the mum-to-be walk in weary while you take charge of the big show.

Keep it short and memorable

Plan out a baby shower that is short, sweet, simple and memorable. Get-togethers generally tend to go on for hours. However, be considerate and keep the guest of honour in mind. Longer parties can make her physically uncomfortable and too tired to enjoy.

Serve snacks instead of a whole meal

It’s best to serve easy to eat nibbles such as cakes, sandwiches, quiches, scones etc. as these require less cleaning up. What’s more? Your guests are free to move around and aren’t stuck to their chairs balancing plates and cutlery on their laps.

Do not serve alcohol

Refrain from serving alcohol at baby showers. Imagine having to manage and calm your drunk guests, a tedious task indeed!

Do not invite too many people

Keep your guest list short as baby showers are an intimate affair. Lots of guests would mean uncontrollable noise and movement, thus tiring the mom-to-be.

Do not play embarrassing games

Games are fun ice-breakers. Keep away from playing games that mortify the mum-to-be. Also, ensure you plan games that lets the expectant mother actively take part in.

Happy Motherhood!
